Some pilots didn't finished the task

We already have final approaches. However, some pilots aborted the task and had to come back without a time score. A look at the score will clarify the situation afterwards.

Live tracking available
Saturday, 21. May 2022 - 14:25

Dear participants, dear spectators. While you are waiting for the final approaches, you can follow the pilots live on your PC HERE. There are 2 tracking systems available for each class. Have fun and good entertainment!

Live tracking of 15m class at 3:20 p.m.

Some pilots have already completed the first turn point in the west and are on their way towards Herbrechtingen.
If things continue to go well, we can possibly expect the first final approaches starting at 4.30 pm.

Let's go!
Saturday, 21. May 2022 - 11:53

The first pilots of the 15m class have just taken to the air. We wish the pilots a good flight!

First take-off expected at 12:00
Saturday, 21. May 2022 - 09:47

Meteorologist Jupp gives us hope for a good flying day with cloud base up to 2000m. However, we will probably have quite strong winds at altitude.

All tasks lead along the Swabian Alb. The length of the tasks is around 250km.

This distance will be flown by the 15m class:

Welcome to the 54th International Hahnweide Competition
Friday, 20. May 2022 - 23:32

After a two year break, the time has finally arrived again! 105 teams from 13 countries have arrived to participate in this very popular international gliding.

About 2/3 of the participants came from overseas. This year again we have several European and World Champion pilots. The event will be flown in 5 competition classes. The 18m class is the most represented with 37 gliders.

Probably the biggest surprise of this evening: This year the Hahnweide has for the first time a female competition director!

Laura Maciej, who has been for many years in charge of the organization of the competition behind the scenes, takes over from Reinhard Diez. Together with sport director Rainer Rauch and meteorologist Jupp (Dr. Josef Dahlem) they are at the top of the organization.

The briefing for the 1st competition day will take place tomorrow at 10 a.m.

We wish all participants and crews a good start and an fantastic week with best weather conditions.

Some pictures of the evening HERE.

Opening briefing
Friday, 20. May 2022 - 20:00

After a heavy welcome shower with strong wind and hail we have a wonderful fresh air. The Hahnweide airport is slowly covered by a wall of fog. All participants are currently at the opening briefing.
