There is now a first trailer for the DVD of the aeroclub Wolf Hirth eV online. We have about 15 hours recorded material, including beautiful onboard shots. Much work is now to do, before the film is finished.

By the end of November, the DVD should be ready.

Hahnweide – the flyers’ Woodstock! as a journalist said.

 

…almost 2 years of preparations, countless man-hours done by all the members of the club “Wolf Hirth”, concern about the weather, will all the participants arrive safely, planning and hoping thatthere’ll be no incidents, all visitors returned home safely…

The 15^th Hahnweide Oldtimer Meeting is over!

 

Thanks goodness we had no accidents, and in spite of some raindrops on Friday and Saturday we were favoured by the weather. So it was a great adventure for our visitors!

 

I want to give my sincere thanks, also on behalf of the members of the club, to all the pilots and their families for coming to join us and present their treasures. Our visitors were full of praise.

 

I do apologize to all the pilots who couldn’t be included in the demonstration programme, which was due to the great number of participants. Thanks for your good airmanship, your good humour, and your active part in the evenings’ parties!

 

Many thanks to Marc (“Circus Marc Mathis”!), Klaus Plasa, Eric Gujon, Christophe Jacquard, Frederic Akary, Peter Teichman, all the friendly guys in the B17 and the French JU 52, all the fantastic pilots in the Skyraider, the B 25 and the Warhawk, Daniel Koblet und Laurent Calame, Uwe with the Swiss JU 52 (…flying and flying and flying…), Mikael with the Bleriot, Zoltan from the Hungarian Li-2….. and all the other sympathetic pilots from the European countries for your marvellous displays!

 

Meanwhile, many hands have contributed to turn the Hahnweide back into a normal airfield after the show, void of all the litter of tens of thousands of spectators. Most of the pilots have left by Monday morning.

 

Anther big Tank You to our fantastic spectators who often travelled far to see the show, joyful, interested, and highly motivated. Thanks for applauding the pilots, and thanks for the many entries in the guest book! This is unprecedented!

I hope that you have all marked the week-end of September 02^nd-04^th 2011 in your planners.

 

And I “apologize” to those unfortunate visitors who had to climb fences and had stress hiding from our cassiers, with ever new excuses for not being willing to pay a sum which they easily spend in a shorter time, Why don’t you just find another pastime for this week-end in 2011?

 

Instead of drawing a long list of all the helpful hands I want to give my thanks to I’ll just mention my dear wife Gudrun who helped me for more than a year doing the preparations, looked after me when I fell ill before the meeting, and never complained.

Please don’t bear a grudge if I didn’t mention YOU – you all gave a masterly performance.

 

The members of the club and their families, who gave their best, are already prepared to engage in the preparations for the 16^th Oldtimer Meeting of Hahnweide on September 02^nd-04^th!
