The Hawker Fury fighter-bomber and Sea Fury Carrier borne fighter-bomber was the British’s last piston fighter, developed during WWII.It was the fastest, the more agile and the more powerfull piston powered aircraft ever mass manufactured.The Hawker Fury was a development from the Hawker Tempest, itself a development of the Hawker Typhoon. The Sea Fury served throughout the Korean War were it appeared as being one of the best of it's type, showing on many occasions to be superior to the more up-to-date enemy jets, as it shot down few MiG-15, being the first such kill by a piston-engine fighter.The land based Hawker Fury MK 10 and the Iraqi ISS version with FB 11 wings was designed as a true fighter, smaller and lighter version. The Sea Fury was the naval version, with folding wings and tail-hook. The Fury and Sea Fury specification:Engine 2480 hp Bristol Centaurus 18 eighteen-cylinder air-cooled radial engine. Maximum speed 460 mph. Range 1040 miles with two drop tanks. Service ceiling 35,600 feet. Empty Weights 9240 lbs and 12,500 lbs loaded. Armament four 20-mm Hispano cannon in the wings, plus underwing racks for bombs, drop tanks, and rockets.
