Weitere Informationen / More information

Construction completed in early 1944, sent to UK under the Lend Lease Act, assigned to Royal Navy, flew as Utility aircraft called the "Traveller" from RNAS Abbottsinch (todays Glasgow airport)until 1946. Then returned to the US to be sold at War Surplus auction. In civilian hands since. Present owner purchased it in early 1994, flew it for a few years, wore it out, then shipped it to a wonderful little company in Mandeville, New Zealand for restoration. It was so beautiful the owner could not bear to put it in a container again, deciding to fly it home to the US...the long way around...via Australia, Indonesia, Southeast Asia, India, Middle East, Europe and North Atlantic. The current mission is: Wandering Europe in search of the perfect Apple Strudel. This mission will take at least 2 years and possibly longer before crossing the North Atlantic.
