Welcome to the official website of the 17th Oldtimer-Fliegertreffen

Merry Christmas! 23. Dez. 2012 - 21:49 Uhr

Bulletin No. 1 31. Okt. 2012 - 11:18 Uhr

Hello dear oldtimer pilots,

hello dear friends,

hello dear fans of the Oldtimer Fliegertreffen at Hahnweide Airfield,

The time has come again!

Preparations for the 17th Oldtimer Fliegertreffen, which will take place at Hahnweide Airfield from September 6th to 8th 2013, are entering their final hot phase.

After the lethal accident of our friend Klaus Lenhart, who had helped organize the last few meetings with great zeal and many ideas, we went through a period of deep grief and uncertainty before we actually started work on the new meeting. We agreed, however, that this event should be seen as a commemorative meeting in order to honour our friend and benefactor Klaus Lenhart. We shall keep on working in the way he would have done, and never forget him

Several more accidents in the flying season of 2012 may also overshadow our project.

All through the flying season 2012 we stayed in constant contact with friends in the vintage aeroplanes business, we visited a number of air shows in Germany and all over Europe, we had fun, made experiments, and arranged new agreements for 2013.

In September we joined a "end-of-season"-meeting with Astrid and Dieter Gehling in Stadtlohn, along with many pilots from the domain of oldtimer- and airshows and enjoyed a lovely evening. In the course of this meeting I had a first chance to glimpse Walter and Toni Eichhorn in their Extras. It is hard to imagine the two of them without the T6es but at least there's the paint on the two Extras to make them look "Extra"-good. (Didn't I say so to you, Toni...?)

I also talked to Volker Radon, of Cassidian, and the prospects are fine because we have both of us "our dreams"……

I also had talks about 2013 with Raimund Riedmann, of Red Bull, and they proved to be promising - I think Raimund is always a treat for a surprise! Be surprised when we'll be able to report details in winter.

We'd so much like to make another attempt at inviting Iren Dornier and his Do 24 to aly over Hahnweide airfield but we need a sponsor. So if anyone would like to book this singular airplane for some advertising purpose, or as a "bonmot" for their clients we could at least offer to make it turn up over Hahnweide, with flights beginning at and terminating at Oberpfaffenhofen or Stuttgart. Any interested persons should simply send me an e-mail (oldtimer@wolf-hirth.de).

After the breath-taking success of the six-fold Junkers 52-formation we were afraid we couldn't repeat this success story but, contrary to our fears all the four Junkers of JU-Air are operational and will meet on Friday September 6th at about 2:30 p.m. in a formation of five with the LUFTHANSA JU 52. If you want to fly from Dübendorf (CH) to Hahnweide or back then you should hurry up since especially the flights arriving at Hahnweide are almost all booked! Look here on this web site for more information, or just book.

Many projects are "still growing" after we've looked round in the area of Oldtimer top acts. Marc "Leon" Mathis, Jacques Habert, Christophe Jacquard and Eric Goujon, our friends from the Amicale Jean Baptiste Salis at La Ferte Alais, Michel Beaudoin from Marseille, Stephen Stead, Peter Teichmann, and many others from the "warbird"-scenery" have already agreed to be ready for the show, as well as many rare birds from the domain of sports planes and General Aviation. The planes of the "Flying Museum Hahnweide (FMH)" will also be presented.

Some pilots will take their planes to Hahnweide during the week before the show, and we'll comment on their arrival on the web.

We'll keep you informed, of course, but we'll again have to limit the number of participants since our capacity for parking airplanes is also limited, and the number of the administrative constraints isn't diminishing either.

We'll open the list of participants on the web site after the beginning of January so you'll be able to follow the growing of the meeting day by day.

As speakers we'll have Jörg and Jochen, and perhaps Dirk and I'm happy about this!

Flight control will be assured by Jochen Haas as "the boss" with Peter, Steffi, and Roland as his experienced team.

And after a "subprime" experiment in 2011 we have now managed to win the catering company Klink, as in previous years, to assured the catering in our hangar, and this makes me really happy.

As we are now approaching Christmas I want to draw your attention to our "Hahnweide Oldtimer Kalender 2013", which offers some fantastic pictures to help you make the time to the meeting past by faster. Both, the calendar and the DVDs, are available as usual from Werner Irlbeck's Irl-shop: if you live near Hahnweide see Lässing Reformhaus at Kirchheim/Teck.

I thank you all for your help and your sympathy in all these years.

We'll meet again in September 2013 at the latest, when it will again be "Augenweide, Ohrenweide, Hahnweide" - a feat for your eyes, for your ears.

Cordially,

Hans Puskeiler

Director of the meeting
